Suddenly, and with great fanfare from family and friends, John Synyshyn became an architect. It seems only a short time ago that he was building tree houses on a farm near Star, Alberta, being a teenager in Edmonton, skipping his high school grad to become an “artist” at the Art College in Calgary, working towards a sales career in high voltage electrical distribution equipment, then succumbing to the “aha, I want to be an architect” dream and deciding to try higher learning, with the support of his wife Marg and two children along the way. After taking up residence in Manitoba, John graduated from the University of Manitoba Faculty of Architecture in 1990, he took the advice from his banker and went forth to gain experience, exposure and existence for about 10 years until the door closed, a window opened and he started his practice in his house with a dog, a bird and a hamster as company. Within one year he moved to the Winnipeg Exchange with two employees and was actively recruiting his soon to be business partner Maureen Doyle. By 2002 Synyshyn Architecture Interior Design was incorporated and he has accomplished his aha dream. And life goes on, happily.
